APEGS International Mobility
If you are preparing hard to win a positive APEGS assessment as an engineer with an engineering licence from a different country, then read this blog. Here, we will tell you about International Mobility, which will help you better prepare for that.
What
is APEGS International Mobility?
If you have been provided with a licence as
a professional engineer in Australia, Hong Kong or Ireland, you are qualified
for a simplified registration process with APEGS, using Professional Mutual
Recognition Agreements (MRAs).
A Professional Engineer who is licensed in
Texas or Mexico may also be eligible for a Temporary Licensee under the NAFTA
agreement.
If ineligible under an MRA or as a
Temporary Licensee, you need to apply as an Engineer-in-Training (International
Graduate). Hire an APEGS report writing expert who can help you in APEGS self-assessment.
International
Mobility (Australia):
This application process applies only to
those engineers who have been granted the registration status of MIEAust NER or
MIEAust CPEng NER by Engineers Australia. It doesn’t include those applicants
who have been granted registration using a third-party mutual recognition
agreement (MRA).
International
Mobility (Hong Kong):
This application process applies only to
those engineers who have been granted Corporate Membership by the Hong Kong
Institute of Engineers (HKIE) and have been admitted as per detailed
assessments done by the HKIE.
It doesn’t apply to those granted
Qualification/Licensure by meauggggrd-party mutual recognition agreement (MRA)
or granted Corporate Membership by HKIE using the ‘Mature Route’.
International
Mobility (Ireland):
This route applies only to Chartered
Engineers of Engineers Ireland, CEng Ordinary Member (MIEI), who have been
granted this title after completing the ‘normal route’, including the
submission of Initial Professional Development Report/Essays and taking part in
the professional interview as given in the Engineers Ireland Document
‘Regulations for the title of Chartered Engineer’.
International
Mobility (Mexico):
If having a Cedule in Mexico, you may be
qualified to register as a Temporary Licensee.
If ineligible for a Temporary Licensee, you
should adhere to the application process for Engineer-in-Training (International
Graduates).
International
Mobility (United States):
If having a Texas PE licence, you are
qualified to register as a Temporary Licensee.
If you are licensed elsewhere in the USA or
don’t qualify as a Temporary Licensee, adhere to the application process for
Engineer-in-Training (International Graduates).
APEGS
Temporary Licensee:
A Temporary Licence is for those
professional engineers who have been registered in the State of Texas or with a
Cedula in Mexico who have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and fulfill the
requirements given below.
This annual licence is known as
‘temporary’, as it can only be renewed for up to three years.
A Temporary Licensee applicant doesn’t need
to write the Professional Practice Exam (PPE).
A Temporary Licensee is not an APEGS member
and, therefore, doesn’t have the right to take part in the governance of the
Association.
If not qualified for a temporary licence,
you need to adhere to the same application process as an Engineer-in-Training
(International Graduate).
If you need your licence in Saskatchewan
for more than three years, you need to become a Professional Engineer. When you
submit your application, choose the application type “Professional Engineer
from Temporary Licensee’. There is no fee for this application, but you need to
write and pass the Professional Practice Exam (PPE) before being eligible to
apply.
